Questions & Answers
Question : How to donate running shoes to people in Africa?
I want to get other kids in my school involved with a program that would send old (but still usuable) running shoes to less fortunate kids in poor countries. Does anybody know of a really good program to send the shoes to?
Answer:
Search second sole on google and email the web guy for the website and see if you can mail the shoes to the store there. Hopefully you live close to Cleveland Ohio. If not sorry but at least you have an option. I just know this running store has a box for shoes for kids in Africa.

Question : What are good mens running shoes to buy?
I run on pavement around my neighborhood. I try to do 3 miles a day. Maybe something with cushion/durability. What are some good mens running shoes?
Answer:
My favorite running shoes are Asics, just as everyone else said, but they are not for everyone. There are different types of shoes for different types of runners. It all depends on how you move your feet when you run: do you pronate (turn your foot inward) or supinate (roll your foot outward)? How heavy are you? How often do you run? Are you prone to injury? These are all things to consider when selecting the appropriate running shoe.
The best thing to do is to go to a nearby running specialty store. A worker there should talk with you and watch you run and can reccomend the right type of shoe for you. Good luck with your running.

Question : Will running in actual running shoes help me go faster and make running easier compared to basketball shoes?
Does running shoes compared to basketball shoes make running easier and make me go faster?
Answer:
they probably feel more comfortable when you are getting up and down the court, but basketball shoes are more supportive, have better grip (running shoes slide around way too much), more protection ( you don't want to risk a serious injury) and offer better side to side and lateral movement while running shoes offer better forward motion.
If your basketball shoes are bothering you, you should buy more comfortable basketball shoes that are lightweight and flexible. If you don't like mids or highs that grip your ankle , you should buy lows because they offer better traction and support that ordinary running shoes don't have. Plus they are lighter than mids or high basketball shoes.
Hope this helps!

Question : How important are the shoes when running?
When first beginning track, does the right type of shoe make you a better/faster runner, or do they really not make that much of a difference, unless you are running for time? I know it's more about endurance and the right techniques, but are running shoes really necessary or will regular tennis shoes do when you're first starting out?
Answer:
Shoes are the most important part of avoiding injuries. Get a good pair that are best for your feet, what you run, etc. Go to a running store where the people actually help you pick the best show for you.

Question : What are the best running shoes that promote forefoot running?
I heard forefoot running is the best and most efficient way to run. I saw these Newton shoes which were $175. Any other good runing shoes?
Answer:
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Forefoot running is how humans are made to run. Period.
Your knee is a shock absorber. Your ankle is a shock absorber. We've been babied into thinking that it's ok to heal strike - it's not. Heal striking sends a shockwave through your entire body and is the cause of most running injuries.
Secondly, $80 is the minimum MSRP (retail price though you may get them cheaper at outlets) for a good running shoe. Anything under $80 full retail is crap. Running Times did a search a year or two ago of stores like Kohls and Target for a decent off-brand running shoe and found 1 that was just ok.
Brooks makes some models, like the Glycerin, that have relatively small amounts of heal lift. Low heal lift makes forefoot running easier.

Question : What are some qualities of running shoes?
What are some qualities of running shoes? My coach told us to get some running shoes, but I do not know what to get. What are some defining aspects of running shoes? Where can I get a decent pair for a decent price?
Answer:
Cushioning is #1(and maybe #2 and #3 as well). Some shoes are designed for motion control for runners that have overpronation or supination, etc., but I'm not sure it's a big help. Differences between shoes include things like weight, flexibility, construction(full slip vs half), outsole pattern and durability. Every manufacturer will claim their system of cushioning gives your more than anyone elses, but it's mostly hype. Fit and feel for you will be the most important things in the end. Additionally, some shoes are better for high milage than others so you should match the kind of running you'll be doing to the shoe.
Definitely go to a specialty running store. They have the best selection, will find out what kind of runner you are(some have treadmills to see), and can explain the differences between various models.

Question : Are there any running shoes that are really great for flat feet and distance running?
I'm trying to run a 5K and I can't seem to find shoes that are really great for flat feet. Lately, all the shoes I've tried have caused me serious burning feet pain. Are there in specific shoes, like brand and name, that really great for distance running?
Answer:
the asics gel foundation 7. Great for flat feet and motion control.

Question : running shoes?
what brand of running shoes are the best? what kind? Any tips for buying running shoes would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Running shoes are a pretty individual decision, based on how you walk/run, what kind of mileage you do, and what kind of surface you'll run on most of the time.
I went to a New Balance store for my most recent pair, and got great help for the sales person, who had me walk barefoot in the store so he could help me make the best decision. He also asked about how I was running now and what my intentions /goals were.
In the city where I live, there's a similar store that has helpful sales clerks, but sells a wider variety of brands. A nearby town has a Fleet Feet store, and they do the same sort of thing, I hear. Fleet Feet stores are in a number of states, so maybe there's a store near you. Here's the URL: http://www.fleetfeet.com/

Question : I want to open a running shoe store. Are there distributors who sell shoes only to retail stores?
I want to open a running shoe store. I will start as an oline retailer with the hope to open a neighborhood store soon. I am looking to buy shoes from 1 company who already has relationships with all of the running shoe stores. What companies do this. I've been searching on-line and cant find anything.
Answer:
contact a store in Jackson, Michigan called Step One. They have been in the exact business you are asking about. I don't have the phone number, but they probably have a web site. They are experts and have been in business for over 25 years.

Question : What are the best running shoes available for women?
