Questions & Answers
Question : Which Neutral Cushion Running shoes would you recommend me if i'm loging on Concrete/Road and Trails.?
I Prefer Lots of cushioning.

Answer:
I Prefer Lots of cushioning.

Question : Do you think that some running shoes train faster than others?
I have trained in Asics gel cushioning system for years, and recently received a pair of Nike. Asics have provided great stability and protection through the years and been great shoes especially the original GT-II. These Nike air cushioning system shoes seem to give me more spring and creates faster turnover and I find myself training at a faster pace. Ever heard of runners taking long runs with one brand and fartlek or tempo runs with another brand. Make any sense to anyone? Not talking about racing flats, just standard training shoes about the same weight. Anyone have favorite brands they trade off for different effects? Thanks in advance for your input.

Answer:
go buy nike frees...they feel amazing when you run....it feels like your floating hahah

Question : what is the best running shoes that has extreme CUSHIONING?
i going back to running,i just need the best shoes for me. my knees hurts before and now my heel too. i gained weight,i need to cut weight on my upper body,so my lower body wont have too much pressure i really need extreme cushioning.please help thank you

Answer:
I know how you feel. The most important aspect to me about a running shoe is the cushioning. I have always ran in assics and thought theses were the best, but I have not been impressed with how they have feeling lately. I just bought suconey triumph 4 and love them. They have the most cushion in a running shoe I have ever had. They have EXTREME CUSHIONING! Good luck

Question : What are good mens running shoes to buy?
I run on pavement around my neighborhood. I try to do 3 miles a day. Maybe something with cushion/durability. What are some good mens running shoes?

Answer:
My favorite running shoes are Asics, just as everyone else said, but they are not for everyone. There are different types of shoes for different types of runners. It all depends on how you move your feet when you run: do you pronate (turn your foot inward) or supinate (roll your foot outward)? How heavy are you? How often do you run? Are you prone to injury? These are all things to consider when selecting the appropriate running shoe. The best thing to do is to go to a nearby running specialty store. A worker there should talk with you and watch you run and can reccomend the right type of shoe for you. Good luck with your running.

Question : If I have shin splints and I think I overpronate, should I buy heel cushion running shoes?
I have started running not too long agao and I have shin splints (mild pain). I think I overpronate. I also have arches that are more on the flatter side. Should I buy running shoes that have cushioned heels (ex: Nike Shox Turbo V style)??? Or should I look for other features?

Answer:
Shin splints are the result of muscle imbalance. Strong calves, weak shin muscles. To prevent them, lie face down in bed with your toes hanging over the edge. Slowly pull your toes upward against the resistance of the mattress. Hold for 1 or 2 seconds, then repeat. Try to work up to 2 or 3 sets of 10. Now that you already have the injury, it's best to rest and ice them to relieve the pain. Flat feet don't necessarily require lots of cushioning such as high-arched feet do, but it's more about how you run and what shoe you feel best running in. Continue to do research on running sites and do some experimenting. A good runners' store is your best resource. Good Luck

Question : Best running shoes for cushion support? What to get?
It's a choice between Asics Gel Nimbus or Adidas Supernova Cushion 7s..... whats the best out of these two only? Thanks!

Answer:
Honestly, I wouldn't listen to people's recommendations on here. Their footstrike is probably different than yours. Their foot shape could even be different. All of these things could effect what is good for you vs good for them. I would go to a running store and have them fit you with shoes. Try both on. And also, be open to possibly getting a different pair of shoes if neither one works out.

Question : Doe a person's body weight effect the lifespan of their running shoes?
They say that a pair of running shoes should last about 4 to 5 months while running 10 to15 miles a week. Do these figures apply to everyone? I mean, my running partner weighs about 110 lbs and is 5'2" while I weigh about 165 lbs and am 5'8". How could it possible be true that our shoes are good for the same amount of time? The cushioning in my shoes should wear out faster, right?

Answer:
You would think that all things would be equal, but I can tell you from experiance that weight will play a small role in running shoe wear. A typical running shoe will last 400 - 600 miles, But I am 6'3" and weight in at 205lbs, typicall running shoes last 10 - 12weeks, or about 400Km which is only 240 miles. Ascis in my opinion last longer then any other brand, with adidas a close second. Suconey seems to wear very quickly and I have heard from others the same complaint. Harry

Question : What are some running shoes for heavy runners?
I am a heavy runner who supinates and has an extremely high arch. Can anyone suggest a good cushioned running shoe?

Answer:
I'm not sure if you have them in your area, but a store called Front Runner (or another one called Fleet Feet) will set you up with the best pair of shoes for your running style. They will watch you run for a little while and then give you a couple different options. Mizuno has several pairs with support. Go to Mizuno.com and search on men's footwear - click on Support. Those will be what you are looking for. The Inspire is a good looking shoe and is lightweight. Don't listen to people saying "quit running". It's great that you are being active. Running is the all time best calorie burning workout you can do. DEFINITELY get fitted or your knees will hurt. Ron

Question : Neutral cushioned running shoes?
I'm getting 2 new pairs of shoes to alternate. I have decided on the Asics Cumulus 9 for my first pair and am undecided on my second pair. I'm leaning towards the saucony progrid triumph or the nike air pegasus. I'm open to others though. I have medium to high arches.

Answer:
I have these Adidas shoes and I love them. They support my high arches very well. I run 2-3 miles a day, and my feet never hurt!!!!

Question : Is underarmour shoes good for running a marathon?
I bought new underarmour shoes today from finishline, they are the new prototype running shoes. I am running the chicago marathon this year (2008) and i want to know if those shoes are good to run in. The associate at finish line said they would work (eventhough the shoe is designed for speed). Any ideas? I figured the shoe has good cushioning and other things, so it might work but i also want to make sure i am not killing my knees, (I am 22 years old).

Answer:
I have been running for 8 years now. Though I am biased towards Nike as a brand, I would recommend you to go to a running-specific store, like Fleet Feet in Carrboro, NC. They can help you find the right shoe because people buy shoes that aren't necessarily right for their feet, but more comfortable or fashionable. But after you get the correct shoes or even if you haven't, I would go to any major athletics store and ask the sales associates because they are getting paid to know the products they are selling. But make sure you state the use/reason for buying the shoes. Good luck!!! http://www.fleetfeetsports.com/
