Questions & Answers
Question : Will running in actual running shoes help me go faster and make running easier compared to basketball shoes?
Does running shoes compared to basketball shoes make running easier and make me go faster?
Answer:
they probably feel more comfortable when you are getting up and down the court, but basketball shoes are more supportive, have better grip (running shoes slide around way too much), more protection ( you don't want to risk a serious injury) and offer better side to side and lateral movement while running shoes offer better forward motion.
If your basketball shoes are bothering you, you should buy more comfortable basketball shoes that are lightweight and flexible. If you don't like mids or highs that grip your ankle , you should buy lows because they offer better traction and support that ordinary running shoes don't have. Plus they are lighter than mids or high basketball shoes.
Hope this helps!

Question : Where is a good place to buy running shoes in Taipei, Taiwan?
I am running in the marathon at Tarko Gorge in November. I need to pick up another pair of running shoes, but I have no idea where to go. I've been in Taiwan for 2 months so I know where to get shoes at night markets etc., but I need quality running shoes. It would be nice if there was a shoe or running specific store. It would also be nice if the store has people that speak English and could fit me for quality running shoes. Price is really not an issue.
Answer:
If you are wear it for the competition, don't but it at night markets.
You should buy it at department stores, sports wear store...etc.
In Taipei, go to Gongguan (公館) very close to Taiwan university, there are some sports wear shops there, price are resonable, quality is also good.
Every year from October in Taiwan, time for department store's on sale, buy everything ,they always has discount better than regular time.
Shinkong Mitsukoshi, Sogo....

Question : Are good running shoes supposed to make your feet feel like they are sticking to the ground?
I bought a pair of saucony running shoes today and when I tried them out on pavement it felt like every time i lifted my feet it took some effort to un-stick them from the ground. I found this kind of annoying so I took them off and debating returning them. Is this what all good running shoes should feel like?
Answer:
How odd, Saucony are generally known to be some of the best shoes for running, although I never wore any, having instead had experience with Asics and Nike.
If a running shoe is good you should, generally speaking, not notice it, that is it shouldn't be too heavy and it should ergonomically aid your running in a way that does not harm your joints, tendons and ligaments, and it sounds like this is not what this shoe is doing for you.
If you feel the shoe is defective absolutely do take it back.
But if you're not sure you may want to try to search for other user's experiences with that shoe, maybe the sole needs to be worn a little, but it does sound weird.
It might also help to know what Saucony model you have purchased.

Question : running shoes?
what brand of running shoes are the best? what kind? Any tips for buying running shoes would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Running shoes are a pretty individual decision, based on how you walk/run, what kind of mileage you do, and what kind of surface you'll run on most of the time.
I went to a New Balance store for my most recent pair, and got great help for the sales person, who had me walk barefoot in the store so he could help me make the best decision. He also asked about how I was running now and what my intentions /goals were.
In the city where I live, there's a similar store that has helpful sales clerks, but sells a wider variety of brands. A nearby town has a Fleet Feet store, and they do the same sort of thing, I hear. Fleet Feet stores are in a number of states, so maybe there's a store near you. Here's the URL: http://www.fleetfeet.com/

Question : What can running in shoes that are a little narrow do to the health of my feet?
The width of my feet are in between medium and wide. I just bought running shoes in medium width because they didn't have wides. They're a little tight but not that bad though they could stand to be a little roomier. I was curious to know what wearing shoes that are too narrow could do to my feet while running? Is it bad for my feet? What kind of problems could I run into?
Answer:
Last year my girlfriend had shoes that were to narrow. After a month of wearing them she ended up with a bruised bone in her foot. The shoe was squeezing the bones near her toes together and cause the damage. These were not running shoes just everyday shoes. It took about 3 months to heal. I would suggest getting the size and shape you need.

Question : What type of running shoes would you recommend for a heavy person?
I pronate, and the guy at the runner store said that I need stability running shoes. I am also 6'4 220 with a low arch and big feet. What say you? Do i need stability or motion control. My current shoes are Nike Shox and they make my feet hurt very quickly.
Answer:
Try the Brooks Ghost or the Asics Gel Kayano. Both offer lots of cushion and support and are good if you over-pronate

Question : Can normal running shoes be used for cross country running?
I have a pair of women's nike running shoes and am going to join my school's cross country team in the fall. But I'm not sure if I have to get a pare of spikes for cross country of if I can just use my nike running shoes.
Help please?
Answer:
If your Nike's are really light weight then they should be good...i would recommend against spikes...even though they are lightweight and flexable, crosscounty courses are sometimes set on concrete. annnd spikes on concrete is a no no.

Question : What are good mens running shoes to buy?
I run on pavement around my neighborhood. I try to do 3 miles a day. Maybe something with cushion/durability. What are some good mens running shoes?
Answer:
My favorite running shoes are Asics, just as everyone else said, but they are not for everyone. There are different types of shoes for different types of runners. It all depends on how you move your feet when you run: do you pronate (turn your foot inward) or supinate (roll your foot outward)? How heavy are you? How often do you run? Are you prone to injury? These are all things to consider when selecting the appropriate running shoe.
The best thing to do is to go to a nearby running specialty store. A worker there should talk with you and watch you run and can reccomend the right type of shoe for you. Good luck with your running.

Question : What are some good running shoes that are cheap? And any tips on track running?
I'm looking for running shoes that aren't over $30. And any running tips that will help with endurance and gaining speed would be great!
Answer:
There are many good racing flats available for under $30, but be careful. Unless you are a very efficient runner used to running in minimal shoes you could be setting yourself up for an injury with them. Best bet - check out a local running store and have them recommend a shoe based on your footstrike. Most running stores will have shoes on clearance that they offer at deep discounts.

Question : What are good running shoes for beginners?
Are there good running shoes at a reasonable price? Also what type of socks do I use? Any help is appreciated!
Answer:
I agree on Asics or Brooks. I used to wear adidas and Nike, but I've been wearing Asics for the last 3-4 years and I just bought by first pair of Brooks this year...what a difference. Much more comfortable! The best thing to do is go to a running shoe store and have them analyze your foot...they will fit you in a shoe designed for your foot type.
