Below Average..
These run almost full size small and very narrow. I am size 13 and had never had to order a wide shoe in my life and never had a stock shoe so poorly "fit". With these I would need a 14-wide in order for them to fit. The sole is very thin and not really applicable for anything other than running on a track, or hanging in the gym. While it's a good looking shoe, it's cheaply made and only suited for (apparently) athletes with very skinny small feet. I have had lots of NB shoes over the years and their quality has taken a dive.

Great shoes if you're lucky with quality
I haven't had any of the quality problems that other people have described, but I believe them. (Not particular to New Balance, it just seems that everything we buy these days is potentially shoddy.) I'm a casual runner, some of it on dirt roads, and they're great. I've worn the sole out before I've had anything fall apart, and I have no complaints.
For me, though, I have a special affection for them them; after fighting mild plantar fasciitis for several years, discovering and wearing these shoes almost full time has improved my condition 98 or 99%. The things that cause people the stresses of plantar fasciitis to begin with are most likely unique to individuals, so I doubt they're some kind of universal cure, but I've tried everything including expensive Z-Coil shoes, and these provided instant relief and what may be permanent recovery. I've owned about 5 pairs of these, mostly the charcoal/orange ones and one pair of the lighter gray/burgundy, and they've all held up to my use very well. I try to always keep a spare pair around in case they become unavailable. By the time they stop making them, maybe my recovery will go from 98% to 100% and I won't even need to worry about them.

My Comfortable Shoes
The New Balance Men's MR790 Running Shoe is not heavy. It makes walking or running easy and fast. The shoe lets in air to keep your feet comfy. Its a very comfortable show to stand in for ten hours.

NB MR790 Review
The running shoe fits well and is light weight. I use this shoe when running on trails and it has been a good experience so far. The MR790 has the support and traction needed for rough terrain and is still light enough for a fast performance. If I absolutely had to think of a negative thing about this running shoe, I would say that different colors could have been used (although I do like the brown/orange).... but thats the least of my concerns. Great shoe!

Great shoes
This is the second pair of New Balance shoes that I have ordered through Amazon. They have a good selection, though at times certain sizes may not be available. They were delievered very quickly even when using the super saver shipping. The shoes are great. Very light weight and small in size, but very sturdy. I am a recreational runner and they were great from the first run.

for long walks on city sidewalks
This is a great shoe for former runners, who are now walkers. I was walking with running shoes, and developed bad blisters and shoes did not have good lateral support for uneven surfaces and dealing with curbs. I went a half size bigger, extra wide, and the ease and comfort, even when walking 7 miles at a time is noticeable better. Also the treadware pattern does not pick up gravel and other edge of street bits and pieces like many running shoes have a tendency to do. Recommended for anyone over 40, and those who have switched from running to walking to avoid knee surgery.

New Balance MX608
My husband put on these brand new shoes and has NOT stopped singing their praises!! He says that they are the most comfortable shoes that he has ever worn. He says that they were comfortable from the first moment of wearing! I have never heard him so enthusiastic about anything!!!

Great all-around shoe for the gym & the road
I use these for gym workouts and as walking/jogging shoes. Being a big guy (6'4", 235 lbs.) I need a substantial shoe! The size -15 Wide- fit GREAT, true to size and they wear well too. I'm on my third pair of these excellent shoes. They haven't worn out, I just replace them every year and keep the old ones as spares. Highly recommended.

It is a good choice for cross traning
This shoe looks amazing and very comfortable. The only thing I found is that the size is slightly misleading. My shoe size is 8 (UK size)and when I relate to the US shoe size I found that it was 8.5 US. When I tried to wear them I found it to be tighter than expected even though the size comapison chart reflect 8(UK). It was strange.. Since I did not have heart to abandon gave to my brother ;)

Comfort and updated design
I bought these for my boyfriend to replace his 992s (he buys a pair or two a year and has done so for 5 years or so), and he was pleased that the fit and comfort were the same as always. He was also pleasantly surprised that the clear plastic bubble on the sides were edited out of this new edition because they corroded and cracked in his old pair.

Solid Shoe
This is the 6th pair of 991/992's I've owned. They're a great pair of shoes for my running style and gait. Every other brand gives me knee pain. Not these. Plus they are classy and retro looking and all that. Little pricey, but this is one area I don't skimp. Worth the money!

A Good Running Shoe
I've been using New Balance running shoes for over 25 years and they have never given me an injury that kept me from running, a record other shoes I've tried can't match (I first tried a pair of Z-coils, which both perform and hold up well but felt as is I were running on stilts. Then I bought a pair of ASICS Gel Enduro 3 Trail Running Shoe Mens and promptly gave myself a case of shin splints that took a full year to heal (how was I to know they were for trail running? You mean people run on TRAILS?)
My favorite models are/were the New Balance® 550 Cross Trainer and the 992.
I started trail and desert running in an attempt to run on a softer surface, but when I did I twisted my ankles in the 992s so many times that I eventually used those Asics on an actual trail (and they worked so well I wore them out completely, they are totally falling apart.)
I will probably replace both the 992s and the Asics with a pair of Mens New Balance 908 Trail Running Shoe, which are supposed to be good for both the street and for trails.
So, would I compare the new 992s to my first pair of NB? In truth they are almost certainly better shoes, but the leap from Army boots to Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lo Top Black to NB was such a huge jump forward that its hard to match when you are comparing a bunch of high quality running shoes. The bottom line? I've never gone wrong with New Balance and the 992 is no exception. Firm, no shin splints, and no bad knees either. Worth the price and made right here in the US, too.

Question : What are good Cross Country race shoes?
I have never done Cross Country before but have done track. So for cross country are spiked shoes good or are non spikes better? Any brands and models you recommend? I personally did not enjoy running with spikes in track because I thought it was harder for some reason, I guess this is just a personal preference. But what would you recommend? Just regular Asics shoes?

Question : Can cross-country shoes be used for track?
I have a pair of cross-country flats which can have spikes added to them. Are these the kind of racing shoes that could be used for track, or would I need a new pair?
Answer:
If you are running long distance in track, the shoes would probably work. However, if you are looking to participate in sprinting events, you may want to invest in another type of shoe specifically made for sprinting. Usually sprinting shoes have spikes just on the ball of the foot to allow quicker turnover while distance shoes have spikes more all over the shoe to allow the runner to use their entire foot. Hope this helps!

Question : Do I need sprinting shoes for cross country?
I know cross country is a long distance, and not really sprinting sorta sport but i was wondering if i should get light weight sprinting shoes for races... So do I need sprinting shoes for cross country? help! thanx! :)
Answer:
You should get just running shoes to train in, but for races and such, I would say you should buy flats ( flats are light-weight and helps you move faster in races). You can buy flats at Snail's Pace. It shouldn't be too expensive.

Question : Where is the best place to get cross country shoes?
I usually just use regular running shoes for cross country but as my last year in high school I would like to try using real cross country shoes. I don't want ones with spikes though. Our cross country team doesn't use those.
Any answers are appreciated!
Thanks!
:D
Answer:
It depends on how serious you are about running, and how often you run. When you are buying your first serious pair, I always recommend going to a good running store so they can take a look at your feet. They can tell what kind of arches you have, whether you pronate when you run, and where you land on your foot. All of these factors affect what kind of shoe you should get. If you get the wrong one, it can lead to unnecessary pain and discomfort. You can't just go somewhere and say "I want Asics". Asics makes a whole line of shoes for all different types of feet. It's like going to a bookstore and saying that you want a book.
Once you find a model that works for you, then you can go to an outlet store. But if you are serious about continuing to run, take the time to go to a store that specializes in running. You will be happy you did!
PS, here's a good link to a Runners' World site that will help you to see what kind of shoe will best fit your foot. They also have a lot of reviews from other users, so you can see what might work best for you;

Question : Can normal running shoes be used for cross country running?
I have a pair of women's nike running shoes and am going to join my school's cross country team in the fall. But I'm not sure if I have to get a pare of spikes for cross country of if I can just use my nike running shoes.
Help please?
Answer:
If your Nike's are really light weight then they should be good...i would recommend against spikes...even though they are lightweight and flexable, crosscounty courses are sometimes set on concrete. annnd spikes on concrete is a no no.
