MR790 Lightweight Trail Shoe

The MR790 is a very lightweight trail running shoe, comparable in weight to a street racing flat. For climbing, its light weight makes it a joy. The compromise, of course, is that it isn't super supportive and the midsole is fairly thin. I replaced the thin, flimsy insoles with a set of Superfeet which provide a bit more support and protection, but don't add a lot of weight. The tread on the bottom of the sole is not super aggressive, so you won't be getting a huge amount of traction. Using careful footwork on technical downhills is advised. I used these shoes to pace an Angeles Crest 100 runner through the last 25 miles from Chantry Flat to the finish and was pretty satisfied. No blisters or aching feet at the end. - CW Journey

Some good, some bad

My previous running shoes were a different Brooks model, so I decided to go with a more trail-oriented model this time.

So first, the good:
-Shoes are light
-Fit comfortably straight away
-Materials do seem tough and resistant on loose rock trails

The bad:
-Definitely not enough cushioning. I run a pretty equal mix of paved running paths and dirt trails and the cushioning is sub-par for both. They're just OK on softer dirt trails (a positive outlook is they have a lot of "feel" on the trail) and on paved trails they contribute to a jarring run.

I've added some Dr. Scholl's gel soles to them so hopefully those will enhance the shoe comfort till I'm ready to toss 'em, but I don't think I'll be buying them again. I'll just get some shoes that have more cushioning outright.

I adore these shoes for all my running!

I'm a bigger female competitor (I usually shoot for Clydesdale/Athena because of my build), I'm not a fast runner, and I tend to underpronate (turn to the outside) when there's an extra boost in the shoes for stability. Not so with these shoes! I love the fit, the cushioning and the arch support that doesn't affect my pronation. So much so I use them for all my running, not just trail! I found most women's shoes are too small (many don't go over a size 11, which is too small to allow for expansion when I run) and too tight - like we all have narrow feet! I've used Nike, Asics, Brooks... I'm sticking with Saucony!

Versatile Brooks Cascadia Running Shoe Combines Comfort, A Terrain Absorbing Ride, And Eye-Opening Looks!

Brooks Cascadia 2 running shoes are my new favorites for both trail and hard-surface running. They are very supportive, and give great traction on uneven terrain. They particularly excel at lateral stabilization, which is important to me. The uppers seem to breathe better than most running shoes I have tried, which actually surprised me a bit given the feel of the fabric. My feet stay reasonably cool and dry in these even after a fairly vigorous run. They aren't the lightest running shoes I have had, but at 12.7 ounces, they aren't the heaviest either: the added support and stability these have versus my Nikes or Asics make the shoe much more suitable for trail running without being perceptibly heavier.

Before ordering these, I must discuss fit. I found these to be a bit narrow for my foot when I ordered my normal size, so I went up a half size, which proved to be an excellent decision. Obviously all feet are different, so if you have narrow feet you will likely be fine with your normal size, otherwise consider upsizing. I relaced mine, and now they are pleasingly snug, and don't slip or pinch my foot anywhere. I couldn't be happier with the comfort and versatility of these shoes.

The shoes have a rather unusual appearance, which is what has probably caused Brooks to make the Cascadia 3 in a more conventional fashion, which I think is a shame. I love the way these look, and have received many comments (all positive) about them. I like them so much I bought this pair in "titan, charcoal, and gray" and an even more striking pair in "toady and granola", which are my absolute favorite shoes of all time.

If you are looking for a great and very distinctive running shoe, particularly for soft-surface running, I couldn't recommend these shoes more highly. As a bonus, since they are a discontinued model (replaced with the more boring Cascadia 3) you can frequently find these on sale at an excellent price.

Questions & Answers
Question : What are good nike running shoes....4 men?
What are good nike running shoes....4 men?

Answer:
Nike Shox are wonderful. They give you a good grip on the ground...men & women. I am a teenager, but i have a very large foot. My brother also likes them. They last really long too! Once you break them in, the give you a bounce so it's a little easier to run. Even when they are not broken in they are very comfy & are really great for running!

Question : Any ideas for men's running shoes that you can wear around town?
I haven't bought new running shoes in a looonnggg time(I'm in college...), so I'm looking for a nice pair of men's running shoes but a pair that also would look good to wear out while just around town wearing shorts. With that in mind, I don't think a lot of running shoes would fit my criteria because most running shoes look very distinct as running shoes. Any ideas/pictures/links for a new pair of running shoes that would work for me? Thanks

Answer:
Nike's are nice and comfortible if you were them alot. They provide REALLY good padding that supports your feet nd toes and heels. They are highly recommended now.

Question : What should a man wear with his running shoes at the gym?
Should a guy wear a pair of running shoes, a pair of white scrunch socks and a pair of shiny black spandex tights to the gym to work out? Do women think it's attractive or sexy? Women's answers only please.

Answer:
Dude... This isn't FLASH DANCE. Wear what normal men wear to the gym... Proper attire is ok with me! Wearing flashy shiny black spandix or tights would be a turn off for me! Ditch the flash dance get up and act like a real man and wear gym shorts and shirt.

Question : Does anyone know where i can find vegan, size 14 (US) shoes, that aren't running shoes or old men styles?
Black would be the best but any dark colour basically. My favoured style of shoes are skate shoes. I need dark shoes for school, but any i find in my size are leather, and i have found a shoe (macbeth eliot, but that's a size 13, and i don't know if i should just go through the pain of having a pair of shoes 1 size too small).

Answer:
Why? are you planning to eat them? They're doing wonderful things with vinyl and pleather these days, this should prevent protein contamination of your feet.

Question : Is there no exclusive shoe store for men where you can find a range of running shoes?
I have tried Sports Authority and Big 5 sporting goods. But didnt find much.Is there no exclusive nike adidas and reebok stores around Sunnyvale??

Answer:
Try Footlocker or Dick's Sporting Goods. You could also order online directly from the manufacturers.

Question : Does it matter if I buy men's or women's Nike running shoes?
I want to get Nike + shoes (the ones you use with the iPod connector/sensor) for Christmas, but it seems that I like a lot of the colors in the men's section rather than women's. If I'm buying, let's say, Zoom Jasaris, what's the difference between the men's & women's?? Aside from the size/color? Is the shape/fit/comfort exactly the same?

Answer:
You really need to try them on first. The fit will be very different. A men's D (standard) width is NOT the same as a women's. And I know you really might want the Nike product for the iPod functionality, but most runners would agree that Nike makes fairly dismal running shoes. Go to a running shoe store, and let them measure you and watch you run. Base your decision on your feet.

Question : tips on running faster(sprinting) and good running men's gear (shoes, socks, short, boxers lol) anything helps?
if you could add pics of the gear that would be great

Answer:
if you could add pics of the gear that would be great

Question : What are some good running shoes for men?
I need some good running shoes that are durable on any terrain and are comfy. I'm not going to use them very often, perhaps 3 times a week. Any ideas for good shoes. All answers are appreciated

Answer:
The best answer to this totally depends on your running gait. You need to know if you pronate, underpronate/suppinate or are a neutral runner before buying shoes. If you don't know go to a running store and ask them to analyse your tread - the good shops will have a machine to do this and will not charge you. Listen to advice from a shop assistant who runs and is trained in the shoe models (not a weekend fill-in!). Visit somewhere like www.runnersworld.co.uk and read reviews on shoes that meet your needs. Try a few pairs on to see how they fit around your toes and heel before buying any. Taking this well-researched path will reduce any chance of injury to your legs/hips/back by running in the wrong shoes. Best of luck!

Question : What are the best "Big man" running shoes?
I need motion control and cushioning and style. I am 230 lbs, have flat feet, and have lost 30 lbs but the bad shoes I wear have started to cause problems with aches (back, knees, feet) in my exercise and I have 30+ more treadmill/track lbs to lose! I don't want to lose momentum and will pay for the best!

Answer:
Brooks Beast running shoes.

Question : Which is the most cushioned men's nike running shoe on the market?
My husband has knee trouble and is looking for running shoe suggestions.

Answer:
I always seek out the most cushioned shoe, cause I pound. I like the NIke Shox TURBO VI
