I adore these shoes for all my running!
I'm a bigger female competitor (I usually shoot for Clydesdale/Athena because of my build), I'm not a fast runner, and I tend to underpronate (turn to the outside) when there's an extra boost in the shoes for stability. Not so with these shoes! I love the fit, the cushioning and the arch support that doesn't affect my pronation. So much so I use them for all my running, not just trail! I found most women's shoes are too small (many don't go over a size 11, which is too small to allow for expansion when I run) and too tight - like we all have narrow feet! I've used Nike, Asics, Brooks... I'm sticking with Saucony!

lack of luster
Having owned previously other Adidas Trail Response shoes (10, 11), had some high expectations of this product. Instead, I was left disappointed. There are plenty of other shoes to use for trail running, and I think the competition now has better and better products. While the shoe still has excellent shock absorbing and thread, there is something about it that leaves me disappointed. The lacing system is weak: pulling the laces doesn't make the shoe feel snug, as the laces recoil leaving slack (one has to hold tight the laces in one place to pull the next place up). There is a feeling of stuffiness. The inside padding along the heel and ankle is stuffy and hot. The area above the toes is also stuffy and hot. For lacing systems, I adore the system that are in Lafuma trail running shoes, and like the one found in the Salomon trail running shoes (in these two brands, the foot really feels snug, almost like a wool sock). With the TR14, putting them on, I just didn't feel like "lets go running". The irony is that I didn't buy them even with a 30% coupon at hand.

Where can you use them?
I ordered these shoes 9 months ago in anticipation of using them in a local winter race if surface conditions turned out to be poor. Tried them immediately with spikes, and found them stable on snow packed roads and comfortable too. Then I replaced the spikes with the inserts that protect the threads when the spikes are not being used. During the warmer months I used the shoes only a few times over relatively short distances in the neighborhood, just to be sure my feet were used to them. Finally, on the eve of the December race I set out to reinstall the spikes. It took me two happy hours, for the protective caps turned out to be very soft metal and had worn flat, and the screwdriver notches were totally gone.
A New Balance representative tells me that this shoe is not meant to be used on streets, only on trails. Nothing that came with the shoe indicated such a limitation, but I had no prior experience with replaceable spikes and perhaps that's a given. The caps had worn flat in less than 25 miles, mostly on asphalt streets or packed earth shoulders. This is the first trail shoe I've had that is not street-worthy.

Questions & Answers
Question : Do running shoes lose their cushioning/stability even if you don't run in them?
I've heard that running shoes lose this cushioning even if they are not used. For example, lets say that i bought two pairs of shoes. I used one while the other remained in the closet brand new in box. Would the latter, that has been sitting in the closet without use for about two months still have the same cushion/stability as it did when i first bought it? I would think so, but i have heard that this is not the case. Any ideas? Preferably from experts in the running, shoe, and/or podiatry field. Thanks!
Answer:
I would think so. I mean, all shoes get worn down and worn out eventually. Right?

Question : I need some suggestions on great running shoes with good cushioning for during cross counrty and track?
I have worn my air max 360s for more than a year now for track and I have gotten shin splints the past two years. I need some new shoes with better cushioning. suggestions?
Answer:
Questions about shoes I will never get tired of answering. First I will start off with the trainers because you will be wearing them for the majority of the time. Since you will be running on all types of surfaces (pavement, grass, dirt, rocks, etc) you will need a shoe that can take a beating. The shoe will have to be more light weight but yet it will need stability it will also have to have good cushioning and it will need waffles (bottom of the shoe) made for all types of surfaces. Waffles made for pavement are going to be larger than waffles made for grass and dirt. This is because smaller waffles offer more traction but yet they wear down faster on pavement and concrete. So shoes for pavement and concrete are larger to help with the wear and tear. So the key is finding a shoe that has a mixture of both more specifically the heel of the shoe should have larger waffles. With this being said the Asics Kayano is the best on the market right now. The upper is made of mesh which makes the shoe lighter and more breathable. It has plenty of cushioning and the waffles are perfect for all types of terrain.
Next the racing flats. A racing flat will be a lighter shoe. Now you don't need a shoe that has removeable spikes they are for more advanced runners. I didn't start using them until I had been running for about 2 years and I was running sub 12 min in the 2 mile. A racing shoe should also have a little bit of heel (that gives a little more cushioning.) If you go to the eastbay website (link below) you will see a bunch of different choices. I don't really have complaints about any of those shoes. There are only a very few on that page that have spikes in them but it will say. If I had to pick one I would pick the Nike mens waffle racer. Now just because it is mens doesn't mean you can't wear them. All of my racing shoes are mens shoes. I am normally a size 9 in womens but I am an 8 1/2 in mens. good luck with everything

Question : What are some running shoes for heavy runners?
I am a heavy runner who supinates and has an extremely high arch. Can anyone suggest a good cushioned running shoe?
Answer:
I'm not sure if you have them in your area, but a store called Front Runner (or another one called Fleet Feet) will set you up with the best pair of shoes for your running style. They will watch you run for a little while and then give you a couple different options.
Mizuno has several pairs with support. Go to Mizuno.com and search on men's footwear - click on Support. Those will be what you are looking for. The Inspire is a good looking shoe and is lightweight.
Don't listen to people saying "quit running". It's great that you are being active. Running is the all time best calorie burning workout you can do. DEFINITELY get fitted or your knees will hurt.

Question : What kind of running shoes should i wear if i have bad knees?
my knees are a little sensitive and i wanna see if there are shoes that are reasonably priced and can help cushion the pressure when i run.
Answer:
running is high impact sport so knee problems are common if you run alot.
you could try sofsole, it's a gel insert for your shoes but some people say they are too mushy, but in this case it might be good for you.
Some shoes have built in gel cushions, they help, but usually they are harder then the gel inserts. A tight fitting shoe might also help a lot.

Question : Best running shoes for cushion support? What to get?
It's a choice between Asics Gel Nimbus or Adidas Supernova Cushion 7s..... whats the best out of these two only?
Thanks!
Answer:
Honestly, I wouldn't listen to people's recommendations on here. Their footstrike is probably different than yours. Their foot shape could even be different. All of these things could effect what is good for you vs good for them. I would go to a running store and have them fit you with shoes. Try both on. And also, be open to possibly getting a different pair of shoes if neither one works out.

Question : Which Neutral Cushion Running shoes would you recommend me if i'm loging on Concrete/Road and Trails.?
I Prefer Lots of cushioning.
Answer:
I Prefer Lots of cushioning.

Question : Neutral cushioned running shoes?
I'm getting 2 new pairs of shoes to alternate. I have decided on the Asics Cumulus 9 for my first pair and am undecided on my second pair. I'm leaning towards the saucony progrid triumph or the nike air pegasus. I'm open to others though. I have medium to high arches.
Answer:
I have these Adidas shoes and I love them. They support my high arches very well. I run 2-3 miles a day, and my feet never hurt!!!!

Question : What running shoes should I get?
Puma shoes? Asics? Adidas Microbounce? Nb Zips? Nike shox? Under Armour? I like light-weight, cushioned, comfartable, running shoes. What should i get? Give me an answer and a reason and you could get 10 points.
Answer:
Brooks running shoes all the way. Nike is the longest running craze, but if you actually compared the shoes, they're definitely not the best. But you never know what suits you the best until you try. Shoes run out after 300 miles, so whichever. The only Nike shoe I really loved were the Nike Frees. Running barefoot works different muscles in your feet which compensate for different muscles in your legs.
The Nike Frees are SO comfortable because they're meant to feel like you're not wearing any shoes, and that means they're also really light weight, yet cushioned because they're training shoes at the same time so it evens out the impact. Plus, they're super cool looking.

Question : Is wearing "cushioned" running shoes alright for a neutral runner?
Is wearing "cushioned" running shoes alright for a neutral runner?
Answer:
Look you need to go to a specialty running store like Fleet Feet Sports. They size and get a good look at your feet. Then they put you on a tredmill and do a video analysis of oyur gait and feet to determine what type of sheo you should be wearing. But since you already know your a neutral runner a cushioned shoe is recommended. The thing is you need to try on different types of shoe to determine what fits you best. Since all feet are different all running shoe companies are different. And when you go up in price on a neutal shoe you are paying for more cushion. But i've seen people pick the cheaper shoe with less cushion without knowing the price because that is what feels good on your feet. So regaurdless if you're a neutral runner or someone who overpronates you just have to try different shoes out and the more you pay the more cushion the shoe is suppose to be depending on the feet.

Question : Impact protection vs. cushioning in running shoes?
Some shoes claim to have "superior cushioning", others "advanced impact protection." Difference?
Answer:
Marketing!
Too bad there are no accepted measures for impact reduction to allow such claims to be quantified.
